NBA arena audio sound effects Best answer on the web

  • Where can I download audio files, of the organ music sound effects
used at NBA games to excite the crowd?

The type of sound effects I am looking for are/were used at Madison
Square Garden for the NY Knicks games. They are typically played when
the home team is building an offensive play. One of the themes I am
    searching for has these notes played on the organ: G, D, E, F#, G, D, E, F#,
G (faster and faster etc). I am also searching for a crowd continually chanting
    "DEFENCE!" to a drum-beat.

  • I believe this is the four-note organ music that you're seeking:

    Here's a "Defense" audio clip:

Many other sports-related sound effects may be downloaded free here:

For better clips, you may want to consider purchasing from a site that sells sound effects.
Here, for instance, you can buy a clip of a crowd chanting "Defense! Defense!" for $1.50:
    Audio Sparx

This site sells a CD with a variety of "Stadium Sounds" for $19.95. If you download their free "Sampler Pak," you'll notice that the track called "Ascend to Charge" is your four-note organ tune:

There are also several CDs that have collections of rock songs which are often played at sports events (things like "We Are the Champions" and such). Here is one that contains a track with the "Defense" crowd call:
Amazon: ESPN Presents Jock Rock, Volume 1

Note that used copies of the ESPN CD are available at lower prices:

I hope this helps! If anything is unclear, if a link doesn't work for you, or if I've misidentified the music you need, please request clarification; I'll gladly offer further assistance before you rate my answer.

  • You could always make your own. All you need is a MIDI program, such as CakeWalk. It allows you to put in music on a musical staff using normal notation and then choose which instrument to use (like pianos or, for your case, an organ) Then you can save your music as a MP3 file.
CakeWalk is a comercial software program and is kind of expensive. You can go to www.download.com and search for "MIDI Sequencers" to find a freeware or shareware program.
    Good luck.

  • revised list of notes which are played:
    G, D, E, F#, G, D, E, F#, D, G^8, B^8, D^8, B^8, D^8
(^8 = go to the octave above)

The aim is to download this music onto a portable mp3 player, and play it at a social game of basketball, for fun.
